Jim Peters, Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Peters is responsible for driving the overall strategic direction of MedMining and championing its commitment to service excellence. He brings a combination of executive leadership, healthcare, technology, and data analytics experience to his role. Through his affiliation with Geisinger Health System, whose vast data assets serve as the foundation for MedMining, Mr. Peters has provided venture direction for initiatives involving information services, personalized medicine, remote patient monitoring, and consumer oriented models of care. He most recently served as Principal for Updata Venture Partners, a $450M venture capital firm that invests in early- and expansion-stage Software and Healthcare IT companies, and was a member of Updata's Senior Leadership team that successfully delivered performance that scored in the top decile among its peers. Mr. Peters' investment focus included market research, analytics, business intelligence and healthcare informatics. Prior to Updata, Peters founded and grew a successful technology services firm that serviced the medical and consumer packaged goods industries. Earlier in his career, he served as a Senior Consultant at Andersen Consulting.

Mr. Peters is appointed as Senior Scholar by the Department of Health Policy of Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. He is a Member of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Wharton Healthcare Management Alumni Association. In addition, he serves as Adjunct Lecturer at Lehigh University's College of Business and Economics, has started a number of perennial fundraising initiatives, and is an active Parkinson's Disease advocate. Peters received his BA from Lehigh University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and played Division I varsity baseball, he completed continuing professional education in Healthcare Strategy at the Harvard School of Public Health, and earned his MBA in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Julie Rockey, Senior Director of Operations 

Ms. Rockey is responsible for leading the daily operations of MedMining. Ms. Rockey has spent her entire career immersed in healthcare information technology which allows her to immediately relate to the needs of MedMining customers. Ms. Rockey's background in project management, electronic data capture, and information technology helps guide MedMining's daily activities which enables her team to meet the unique needs of each customer.

Before joining MedMining, Ms. Rockey established herself as a leading Implementation Consultant with 3M Health Information Systems (formerly SoftMed Systems, Inc.). Ms. Rockey worked with over 50 hospitals throughout the United States to implement health information technology, with an emphasis on Electronic Health Record solutions. Prior to joining 3M Health Information Systems, Ms. Rockey worked at both the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and University of Pittsburgh Physician Practice Group where she was responsible for overseeing various levels of patient data capture processes.

Ms. Rockey received her BS in Health Information Management with a focus on Computer Science from the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh and is a credentialed Registered Health Information Administrator. In the community, Ms. Rockey serves on the Information Technology Advisory Board for Keystone College and the Board of Directors for Friends of Shikellamy State Park. She is also the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Devitt House, a senior apartment facility. Ms. Rockey was also a member of the 2010 Class of Leadership Susquehanna Valley. In addition, Ms. Rockey is a member of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, American Health Information Management Association, Pennsylvania Health Information Management Association, and Central Pennsylvania Health Information Management Association.

Eric S. Meadows, Senior Director

Dr. Meadows serves an advisory role on scientific issues for key projects.  He collaborates with customers and his MedMining colleagues to optimally achieve the research and business objectives of our customers. Dr. Meadows received a Ph.D. in Biomedical Science from Washington University (St. Louis, MO) and was a Jane Coffin Childs fellow at Stanford University.  He then served as a consultant to pharmaceutical clients with ZS Associates (Evanston, IL) before joining Eli Lilly and Company (Indianapolis, IN) in 2003, where he served in the Scientific Communications, US Outcomes Research, and Global Health Outcomes departments.

He has conducted research across numerous therapeutic areas including women’s health, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and neuroscience.  Dr. Meadows’ methodological expertise has been in health economic research, retrospective database analyses, and observational studies. His collaborators include multiple international experts and he has co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications. Some of his numerous conference presentations have included Academy Health, Society for General Internal Medicine, International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. His research projects have garnered national media attention, including coverage by Reuters. Dr. Meadows has contributed scientific data to support reimbursement negotiations in the US and across the globe. In 2010 he was named one of the top 50 reviewers for Medical Decision Making and also serves as reviewer for Medical Care, CANCER, and Applied Health Economics & Health Policy.  In the community he enjoys volunteering with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and Habitat for Humanity.
